Martin Austwick completed his undergraduate degree and doctorate in Solid-State Physics at Oxford, before moving into Medical Physics at UCL in 2006. His current research interests involve cancer detection and treatment using light (for example PDT, which uses laser light to activate drugs to destroy tumours). Outside his academic and lecturing work, Martin is a musician, songwriter and podcaster. He has recently started to become involved in public engagement projects at UCL, and is keen to find different ideas as to how to combine his interests in fun and accessible ways.

Commissioning the Future

Commissioning The Future is the new European training initiative for commissioning editors and funders, developed by Crossover (UK) in partnership with Documentary Campus (Germany) and Sheffield Doc/Fest (UK).

We strongly believe that it is vital to train the decision-makers in order for the convergent marketplace to really thrive. Therefore we have developed this new European training course offering three five-day long creative and commercial innovation labs, focused on commissioning for the emerging convergent digital media ecology.
